Sarah Jessica Parker’s son cheers on Argentina wearing Messi’s jersey

Sarah Jessica Parker’s son, James Wilkie Broderick, is making his World Cup allegiance crystal clear. 

Fresh off Argentina’s dramatic semifinal victory over England, the 23-year-old actor celebrated the reigning champions’ place in the 2026 World Cup final by sharing an enthusiastic selfie in the team’s sky-blue-and-white jersey. 

Wearing Messi’s legendary No. 10 shirt, Broderick appeared ecstatic as he cheered on La Albiceleste ahead of their showdown with Spain.

The post comes during a transformative time for Broderick, who has been steadily carving out his own path in entertainment. The artist has over 31k followers on Instagram and has been following in his famous parents footsteps. 

Earlier this summer, he made his modeling debut in a campaign photographed by Brad Walsh Abdallah and is currently appearing in the off-Broadway production This Lime Tree Bower, where he plays Joe in Christopher Ryan’s adaptation of Conor McPherson’s acclaimed 1995 play.

His father, Matthew Broderick, has remained one of Hollywood’s most recognizable actors for decades thanks to iconic roles in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Producers, and The Lion King, where he voiced adult Simba.

The father-son duo also shared the screen last year when James guest-starred on CBS’s Elsbeth.Matthew Broderick, during a guest appearance on CBS’s Elsbeth.

While his famous parents have built decades-long careers in Hollywood, Sarah Jessica Parker has often spoken about wanting all three of her children to create lives of their own rather than rely on the family’s success.

She told E! News last year she hopes they pursue work that is “exciting and challenging” and are “able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves – emotionally, financially – and that they can be in the world and be a reliable person to themselves and to other people.”

They are also the parents to twin daughters Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwel, who are 17.

Argentina punched its ticket to the World Cup final after producing one of the tournament’s most dramatic comebacks. 

Trailing England late in the match, Enzo Fernández fired home a stunning equalizer in the 85th minute before Messi delivered a perfect cross that Lautaro Martínez headed home in stoppage time to seal a 2-1 victory.

The defending champions will now face Spain in Sunday’s highly anticipated final, setting up a marquee clash between Messi and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. 

If Broderick’s celebration is any indication, he’ll be firmly behind Argentina as they chase another World Cup title.
