For fans of Meghan Markle, the chance to spend an intimate weekend in her company might sound like a dream. But for those hoping to walk away with the ultimate keepsake, a photo with the Duchess, that dream comes with a surprisingly steep price tag.
Guests attending the highly anticipated “Her Best Life” retreat in Sydney this week are being asked to pay an additional $330 for the opportunity to secure a group photo with Meghan, as part of a premium VIP upgrade.
The three-day event, already being dubbed “Meg-stock” by attendees, is being held at the five-star InterContinental Coogee Beach hotel from Friday to Sunday, offering a curated blend of luxury, wellness and rare access to the Duchess.
Standard tickets for the retreat start at around $1,780 per person for a twin-share room. However, those opting for the VIP experience, priced at approximately $2,110, will gain access to the sought-after group table photo with Meghan, alongside a private hotel room and an “exclusive VIP goodie bag”.
The pricing structure has sparked conversation, particularly as the additional cost highlights just how valuable access to Meghan has become since she stepped back from royal life.
Adding to the exclusivity, attendees have been told the weekend will operate under a strict “no phones, no recording” policy during Meghan’s interview session, described as a “non-negotiable security requirement”. For many, that means the paid group photo could be the only tangible memory of their time with the Duchess.
Organised by Gemma O’Neill, host of the Her Best Life podcast, the retreat is expected to welcome around 300 women for what is being marketed as “the ultimate girls weekend”.
The itinerary leans heavily into self-development and connection, with guests promised “a beautiful, relaxing and inspiring weekend” filled with “inspiring conversations and unforgettable connections with an incredible group of women”.
Alongside Meghan’s headline appearance, the schedule includes a “powerful women’s session” with renowned therapist Dr Justine Corry, meditation and manifestation workshops, relaxed time by the pool, a gala dinner, and a “dinner and disco celebration”.
When announcing Meghan’s involvement, Gemma was full of praise, saying: “I have admired this woman and what she has endured, how she’s risen above it and how she has demonstrated how a woman can be pushed down and she can still rise.”
She also claimed Meghan’s participation was driven by passion rather than profit, adding: “She’s doing it because she really loves what our community is about, which is women trying to grow, try to be their best selves and trying to help other women.”
Despite that sentiment, the retreat carries all the hallmarks of a carefully monetised experience. Demand has already proven strong, with organisers initially declaring tickets “exhausted” before releasing a limited number of additional rooms earlier this month.
