Fine lines are my biggest beauty gripe. And while I’m well aware of plenty clinics offering needle-based treatments to plump them out, I like to take a DIY approach to my skincare before calling in the big guns. I was familiar with this K-beauty trend thanks to that viral video of Hailey Bieber eating sushi in one, but I didn’t realise just how much it might benefit my own skin. As it turns out, quite a lot. South Korean skincare innovators are famous for taking advanced pharmaceutical technology and adapting it for skincare, which is exactly how hydrogel sheet masks have soared in popularity.
Previously reserved for medical purposes, skincare buffs realised that hydrogel is the perfect vehicle for deeply delivering anti-ageing and hydrating ingredients directly into the skin. And while traditional cotton and paper sheet masks evaporate quickly (and can actually draw moisture out of the skin if left on too long) hydrogel masks create an occlusive barrier.

It wasn’t long before British beauty-tech brand Keskine decided to get in on the action. Already a huge fan of its products (its LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask Pro is one of the best on the market), I knew exactly where to look for my next skincare fix. When I saw Keskine had released a hydrogel sheet mask, I knew this was the one to try on my quest to target fine lines.
The Keskine Bio-Collagen Deep Hydration Mask features an ampoule solidified into a hydrogel sheet, infused with 100,000ppm of Bio-Collagen and Bifida Ferment Lysate. Utilising ultra-low-molecular-weight hydrolysed collagen and multi-molecular hyaluronic acid, it penetrates deeper than conventional masks to hydrate, brighten and replenish the skin’s moisture barrier.
The mask is designed to be left on for at least three hours, or ideally worn overnight. But the real question is: how much did it actually help my fine lines?

My skin is brighter and plumper, with the bothersome fine lines around my eyes definitely softer than they were before I started using the brand’s latest creation once a week.
Split into two top and bottom halves, they’re much easier to apply than traditional sheet masks. They lock firmly in place, allowing me to work from home all day or sleep with one on without any slipping. Plus, in a novel touch, each mask turns transparent as it works, signaling when the active ingredients have fully absorbed.
The best bit is that, at just £34.99 for a 15 pack, each mask works out at £2.33. So, I now have the glowiest skin of my life for a fraction of what a trip to a clinic would cost. What a result!
