Craig Melvin scored some major dad points this week as he enjoyed a family day out watching the New York Knicks defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers in the basketball playoffs. The Today Showhost took to Instagram to share a sweet snap from the special day.
The selfie captured Craig posing alongside his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and their two kids, Delano and Sybil, at the match. Craig smiled for the camera, dressed in a brown shirt, while his son, Delano, wore a gray sweater. Sybil was also dressed in a casual look that consisted of jeans and a gray hoodie. Lindsay looked stylish in a leather jacket and simple tee.
“Playoff basketball at the Garden just hits different. Took the family to Madison Square Garden last night to watch the Knicks take down Cleveland. The energy, the crowd, the memories…unforgettable. New York showed out! #Knicks #NYC #MSG,” penned Craig in the caption.
The NBC star’s followers flocked to the comments section to gush over Craig’s parenting. “Amazing parenting my friend!” penned one social media user. “Craig I have to say it again your family is amazing. You have an amazing life – great job and a great family,” added another fan. “The Melvin’s always get great seats. Awesome game for fans of the NY Knicks,” wrote a third follower.
Family life
Craig and his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, met while both working at NBC Washington, with Craig enlisted as a news anchor in 2008 and Lindsay boasting the title of sports anchor. The pair tied the knot in 2011 with a wedding in Washington D.C. – the city where they met – at the Church of the Holy City. They later welcomed their son, Delano, in 2014, and their daughter, Sybil, in 2016.
In an interview on The Pivot podcast, the news anchor opened up about the “sacrifices” he’s made for his job on the Today Show. “I’ve done morning television for a long time,” he shared. “People who are really good at something, you’re sacrificing time, sacrificing money, you’re sacrificing relationships. We’re all sacrificing something. For me, I had to make peace with what I was sacrificing.”
According to Realtor.com, the family’s home in Connecticut is worth an estimated $6.2 million and with six bedrooms and a whole host of amenities, it’s hardly surprising. While Craig is from Columbia, SC, he relocated to Westport, CT, from Washington, DC, almost a decade ago when he joined Today.
