Vivienne Jolie is embracing a new start. The daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is 18 years old and has made the decision to alter her name. Like some of her siblings before her, she’s dropping her father’s surname.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Vivienne has filed the proper documentation to change her name. In documents submitted to the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Vivienne is requesting her legal name to be changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
The petition was filed on Monday of this week, but Vivienne signed it on July 12th, on her 18th birthday. On the documentation, she noted that the reason for the name change was “personal.” There is a hearing that will be scheduled on November 2nd.
The Jolie-Pitt kids have made their choice
Vivienne is the most recent in joining various of her siblings when dropping the surname Pitt, but this isn’t the first time she’s embraced her mother’s surname. In 2024, she worked as a production assistant on the Broadway show “The Outsiders,” where she was credited as Vivienne Jolie.
That year, she accompanied her mother to the Tony Awards, with the two wearing matching outfits: Angelina opted for a velvet dress while Vivienne opted for a suit with a matching color and fabric.
Over the past year, her elder sister Zahara requested that her name be changed to Zahara Marley Jolie. Shiloh filed to change her name on her own 18th birthday, in 2020. Maddox, the family’s eldest sibling, has also requested a name change, filing for Maddox Chivan Jolie.
Their parents’ relationship
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had one of Hollywood’s most notorious relationships. The two met on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” and began dating shortly a year or two after, confirming their romance in 2005. They adopted numerous kids and welcomed some of their own throughout their relationship. They also collaborated on different projects, including the movie “By The Sea,” which Jolie directed. They got married in 2014, with them shooting the movie on their honeymoon, with the two of them featured in the starring roles.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, with the two completing the proceedings in 2024. While their divorce is resolved, the two remain in a legal battle over the French estate and winery Chateau Miraval.
