Zendaya recently delighted fans with an unexpected appearance at a small independent bookstore in Northern California.
The Challengers star paid a visit to Rakestraw Books in Danville, California, where she spent time browsing titles, chatting with staff, and picking up a few new reads.
The bookstore shared news of the visit on Instagram on Friday, June 6, posting a photo of the actress posing inside the shop with two notable books in hand.
“We had a very special visitor at Rakestraw Books recently,” the store wrote. “Zendaya stopped by to shop and chat books with us! We were thrilled to help her find some good reads and loved getting some recommendations from her!”
The photo quickly caught fans’ attention, not only because of Zendaya’s surprise appearance but also because of the books she chose to pose with.
A Playful Connection to Upcoming Projects
In the snapshot, Zendaya can be seen holding copies of Dune: Messiah by Frank Herbert and The Odyssey by Homer.
The selection appeared to be more than a coincidence.
Both books are directly connected to major upcoming film projects involving Zendaya and her fiancé, Tom Holland.
Zendaya is set to return as Chani in Dune: Part Three, the next chapter in director Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster sci-fi franchise. The film, which is expected to draw inspiration from Herbert’s Dune: Messiah, is currently slated for release in December.
Meanwhile, The Odyssey has become one of Hollywood’s most anticipated upcoming productions. Director Christopher Nolan is developing a new adaptation of the ancient epic, with Holland attached to star in the film. Zendaya is also part of the cast and is expected to portray the goddess Athena.
For fans of the couple, the bookstore photo felt like a subtle and playful nod to both of their upcoming careers.
A Love Story That Began on a Superhero Set
Zendaya and Holland’s relationship has captivated fans for years, though the pair have worked hard to keep much of their romance private.
