With horrific headlines, policies, and governments determined to convince us humanity is doomed, the 2026 FIFA World Cup keeps delivering moments that feel like the exact opposite. The latest dose of unexpected joy came out of Dallas, where a group of Argentina fans locked in to make sure a man named Juan Manuel Montero didn’t have a stressful night after losing his wallet.
In a viral video from June 27, Argentina fans can be seen turning chaos into community with a song. Using a classic fútbol terrace chant, one fan was hoisted onto someone’s shoulders so he could lead the crowd. Together, dozens of voices began chanting the wallet owner’s full name, Juan Manuel Montero, over and over again.
Once Montero finally emerged from the crowd, the celebration only got louder. Happiness erupted as fans broke into another chant, this time gleefully shouting in Spanish: “He found it! He found it!” Then, hoisting him in the air.
The internet, unsurprisingly, loved every second of it. “The World Cup is giving me hope for humanity. I love this!” one person commented. Another summed up the moment perfectly: “This must be the weirdest but best way to return a wallet.”
Others were especially charmed by how naturally collective the whole thing felt. “Freaking fútbol over here restoring my faith in humanity,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “This is what a cohesive society looks like.”
Another fan said that the United States has a lot to learn. “Americans have a lot to learn. This visit by the world’s fan was eye-opening,” they wrote. “The rest of the world is so much better than us,” another person added.
It’s not the only heartwarming story that has come from the tournament. The 2026 World Cup has had many viral moments thanks to the internet, including the Christmas sweater that went viral on opening day when a group of students outside was supporting Mexico’s flag.
A little boy named Santiago was wearing a sweater with Santa on it, and he quickly went viral. Once he was identified, he had a life-changing experience: his own official jersey from Santiago Giménez.
Sadly, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will end on Sunday, July 19, 2026, and fans from around the world will return to their home countries. Until then, it’s been an incredible thing to witness soccer fans celebrate wins and losses together with unity. No matter who you are rooting for, we can all try to be good people.
