Audrey Landers is celebrating a milestone birthday – and the former Dallas star looks as youthful and glamorous as ever. The actress and singer turned 70 on July 18, 2026, more than four decades after becoming a household name as nightclub performer Afton Cooper on the hit television drama. With her signature blonde hair and polished sense of style, Audrey remains instantly recognisable to fans who watched her navigate the romances, rivalries and betrayals of the Ewing family saga. From Dallas and The Love Boat to music, movies and family life, HELLO! takes a look back at Audrey’s remarkable career.
Born in Philadelphia in 1956, Audrey began performing as a child and recorded her first song while still in her teens. She later established herself on television with appearances in daytime dramas including The Secret Storm, Search for Tomorrow and Somerset. Before landing her career-defining role, she also appeared in popular shows including Happy Days, Charlie’s Angels, Fantasy Island, Battlestar Galactica and The Dukes of Hazzard.
Audrey’s breakthrough came in 1981 when she joined Dallas as aspiring singer Afton Cooper. Glamorous, ambitious and frequently caught in the middle of the show’s complicated family feuds, Afton quickly became a memorable part of the long-running drama. Audrey appeared regularly until 1984 and briefly returned in 1989, later reprising the role in the 1996 television movie Dallas: J.R. Returns and the show’s 2012 revival.
During the height of her Dallas fame, Audrey also became a familiar face on The Love Boat. She appeared in several episodes between 1982 and 1985, playing different passengers whose holidays aboard the Pacific Princess inevitably involved romance, misunderstandings and adventure. One episode had a special family connection, with Audrey appearing alongside her younger sister, actress Judy Landers, as two sisters hoping to meet wealthy men during their cruise.
Audrey showcased her singing and dancing talents in the 1985 film adaptation of A Chorus Line, directed by Richard Attenborough. She played Val Clarke, the confident dancer behind the memorable musical number ‘Dance: Ten; Looks: Three’.
Audrey has been married to businessman Donald Berkowitz since 1988, and the couple welcomed twin sons Adam and Daniel in 1993. She developed the children’s television series The Huggabug Club with her mother, Ruth Landers. Audrey wrote scripts and hundreds of original songs for the programme and has also worked in fashion alongside her sister and mother.
