George Clooney did not get cast in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” but his legendary Lake Como estate is front and center and already considered one of the film’s most talked-about cameos. Clooney’s Villa Oleandra becomes a scenic highlight in the sequel to the 2006 fashion classic.

Fans got their first glimpse of the iconic property in the trailer, where Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, and Emily Charlton, portrayed by Emily Blunt, speed across Lake Como toward the breathtaking waterfront estate.

In the film, we get to see more of the European setting and understand more about why it was featured.

Clooney Reacts to His Unexpected Cameo

When George Clooney learned that his home would feature in the movie, his response was classic Clooney. “Is it really? Oh man, I made it,” he joked in an interview with Access Hollywood. “Well, the house holds a special place in my heart because I love going there.”

The villa is nestled along the shores of Lake Como. Villa Oleandra has long served as a private retreat and gathering place for close friends and family. “And Emily is just a dear friend,” Clooney added, referencing Blunt. “That whole cast… I can’t wait. Has it come out? It’s going to be a big hit.”

A Personal Connection for Emily Blunt

For Emily Blunt, filming at Villa Oleandra was deeply personal. The actress married John Krasinski at the villa in 2010. “It was very special for John and I to go back, and to go back with these guys,” Blunt shared in a separate interview with Access Hollywood. “We actually took a photograph with the four of us on Lake Como. It was just so wonderful.”

That “four” included Blunt, Krasinski, and her “Devil Wears Prada 2” co-stars, including Stanley Tucci, who also happens to be her brother-in-law. He is married to Emily’s sister.

Tucci even pointed out a subtle detail for viewers to watch for: “Where they got married was in the background.”

A Wedding Venue Straight Out of a Movie

The villa’s cinematic appeal, romantic architecture, and lakeside views have made it a dream destination for celebrities and filmmakers, so Blunt and Krasinski’s wedding was not the only one that had the property as a background.

In a 2016 interview with Elle, Krasinski revealed he initially thought Clooney was joking when he offered the estate as a wedding venue. “Only on the fourth ask did I say yes,” Krasinski admitted. “Because the first three times I thought, there’s no way he is serious.”

According to The Wall Street Journal, Clooney expanded the estate by purchasing an adjacent property, transforming it into a 25-room compound and one of the largest private residences in the Lake Como area.

While the original film focused heavily on New York’s fashion scene, the sequel embraces a global, luxurious aesthetic.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” is in the theaters now.
