Kate Middleton delivers masterclass in Wimbledon heatwave dressing with linen outfit – and rare hairstyle

The Princess of Wales didn’t let the warm British weather impact her pristine image as she made an appearance at day four of Wimbledon.

Dressing for the mid-20s sun, Kate chose a breezy pale blue suit to prevent her outfit from absorbing the heat. She wore her double-breasted blazer with tonal buttons open to show off the matching high-waisted, wide-leg trousers and white ribbed top underneath.

The linen-blend suit, which appeared to be from Gabriela Hearst, co-ordinated beautifully with the Princess’ moonstone and lapis drop earrings from British brand Carousel Jewels, which she had previously worn to the Easter service in 2023. 

Her accessories were particularly visible since Kate wore her hair in an updo, choosing to secure her usual cascading curls into a high ponytail – a rare look for the royal. One of the last times fans saw this style was in March, when she switched up her usual beauty look as she pulled her long brunette hair into a sporty ponytail paired with a baseball cap at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Princess Kate kicked off her day by meeting the hoards of people who had been queuing in SW19, waiting outside the iconic venue since the early hours of the morning.  

She was pictured taking selfies with fans and even scanning tickets to allow spectators into Wimbledon.

After getting stuck in at the ticket office, Kate then settled in for a game, watching Britain’s Arthur Fery take on Finland’s Otto Virtanen in the second round alongside chair of the AELTC, Deborah Jevans, and former tennis legend, Tim Henman.

Tennis passion

Kate took over as Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) from Queen Elizabeth II in 2016, but she has long had a passion for the sport. 

She told primary school children in Mitcham, South London, in 2018: “I love tennis, I think it’s a great sport, I was really sporty when I was little, less so now that I’ve got lots of babies.”

Passing down her sporting prowess to her children, Kate told Novak Djokovic after his Wimbledon victory against Nick Kyrgios in 2022 that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have all tried their hand at tennis.

Speaking after the match, she said: “George is playing. They’re all playing, even Louis who’s four. They’re all keen.”
