Prince George is officially a teenager.  The second in line to the British throne is celebrating his 13th birthday, with the official social media of the Prince and Princess of Wales sharing a new portrait and footage from the family’s most recent holiday.

The portrait shows George standing tall, with his hands in his pockets and wearing a black suit matched with a white button-up shirt. He looks incredibly like Prince William when he was young, with George inheriting a darker shade of the Prince’s trademark blonde hair.

“Happy 13th Birthday, George!” reads the photo’s caption.

Later today, the account shared a video of Prince George on a recent beach holiday, showing him enjoying the sun to the fullest. He’s seen wearing a blue polo shirt and green and blue swim shorts, walking barefoot through the sand.

The clip starts with George waving and smiling at the camera, later climbing a tall rocky structure, with his brother Prince Louis following closely behind.

The Prince’s bright future

As a teenager and heir to the throne, Prince George has a bright future ahead of him. Earlier this year, it was announced that he would be attending Eton, the historic school that his father also attended, located near his parents and siblings in Windsor. He will be starting classes there this September.

It was reported that while Prince William and Kate Middleton explored several options, including the coeducational Marlborough College, George ultimately knew which school he wanted to go. “I think that on this one, William was pushing hard for Eton, and they did flip-flop over the issue of where to send George,” said royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths.

“Ultimately, it will have been a joint decision, but William always wanted Eton and thinks it’s the right place for George. It breeds leaders.”

“William and George are very close, and William will be making sure George is well prepared.” According to a separate source, George has always wanted to “follow in his dad’s footsteps,” they said to PEOPLE.

Vanity Fair reports that George has already visited the school and is excited to start. “He has been to see the school more than once and loved it. He was very chuffed to be offered a place and is excited about getting fitted for a new uniform,” a source told the publication.

Prince William’s history with Eton

Prince William enrolled at Eton in 1995, becoming the first direct heir to the British throne to opt out of Gordonstoun in Scotland.  William opted for a school near his home in Windsor, and it was an important place for him in the years that followed, with him coping with the public dissolution of his parents’ marriage and the death of his mother, Princess Diana.

He competed in numerous sports, including swimming, water polo, rugby and Eton Field Game.
