While the UK navigates the soaring heatwave, we are looking to our favourite stars and royals for their killer summer looks – and these ensembles worn by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie caught our attention.
Stepping out at the Boodles Boxing Ball at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in 2011, the royal sister duo battled the beating summer temperatures in dresses to die for.
Beatrice wore a plunging patterned sundress which featured a chiffon skirt adorned with a lilac and green floral pattern. The stylish summer dress was complete with contrasting gold sequin trim.
The royal completed her look with glittering stilettos, a navy blue sparkling clutch bag and a golden suntan.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie opted for an all-black ensemble, slipping into another black gown while stepping out alongside her sister. The long black gown featured ruffled sleeves decorated with silver circles.
The Princess also sported a stylish fringe for the evening, which saw her stepping out alongside A-listers alike, including Pippa Middleton, who looked exceptional in a red gown.
A Timeless piece
Princess Beatrice’s dress stood the test of time as five years before she wore the dazzling gown while attending Elton John’s eighth annual white tie and tiara Ball for the AIDS Foundation in 2006.
This time, Beatrice, who was 18, let her fiery tresses fall in voluminous curls, and completed her ensemble with seriously noughties gold bangles.
Meanwhile, Eugenie, who was 16, wore another elegant black gown which, this time, featured spaghetti straps and a neon paisley print. Eugenie wore her brunette locks in neat curls, accessorising her evening look with a pair of drop earrings.
Sisters stick together
While we love the royal duo’s sense of style, confidence is something that has ebbed and flowed for the sisters over the years, they admitted in an interview with Vogue in 2018, adding that they get each other through the difficult times.
“We’re each other’s rocks,” says Eugenie. “We’re the only other person in each other’s lives who can know exactly what the other one is going through.
“There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset. We were just about to step out [at a royal garden party], and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me.”
Eugenie said, “When we were younger, I always used to make her go into parties first. I’d hide behind her and she’d make the first move, then I’d get louder and louder as she made me more confident.”
