Retired pro wrestler Joe Doering has died at the age of 44. “It is with great sadness that we share Joe passed away peacefully this morning, June 26, at 9:13 a.m. He was comfortable and not in any pain,” a statement from his family on a GoFundMe read.
“Please keep Joe’s family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time. Thank you all for your love, support, and kindness—it has meant so much to us.”
It concluded: “We love you, Joe. You will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed.”
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) also announced his passing in a statement that read: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Joe Doering. A commanding in-ring performer and a wonderful person, he will never be forgotten. We offer our deepest condolences to his fans, his friends and his family”.
Joe began his career in 2004 with TNA and had a dominant run across the years with All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) where he was crowned the Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion.
He left the sport in 2016 after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He underwent surgery to remove it, but the disease returned in August 2022, and he developed ataxia after a second surgery, which left him needing the use of a wheelchair and assistance for stairs and transitioning from sitting to standing.
© GoFundMeHis sister-in-law, Mandy Banh, announced in November 2025 that he had been diagnosed with a third brain tumor and launched a GoFundMe, sharing that she wanted to help Joe and his family “alleviate some financial worries that naturally come along with medical bills”.
Joe lived in Canada with wife Lindsay; he was originally from Chicago.
“He chooses not to feel sorry for himself and battles his journey very privately. I feel after 10 years, to show Joe more love- that he still has support and encouragement- will help him embark on this latest battle,” wrote Mandy.
In May 2025 she offered an update to share that Joe had been rushed to the hospital with a CT scan showing “his tumor is growing”. Chemotherapy treatment was halted; he entered hospice on June 23, 2026.
