Selena Gomez is expected to serve as a bridesmaid at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. The 36-year-old singer-songwriter and the Kansas City Chiefs star, also 36, are reportedly set to marry during a celebration at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, 2026. According to sources, Gomez will play a special role in the ceremony.
Selena and Taylor have shared a close friendship for nearly two decades. They first met in 2008 while Gomez was dating Nick Jonas and Swift was dating his brother, Joe Jonas.
Looking back on how they met, Gomez recalled during a 2017 interview with KIIS FM, “It was amazing, because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked.”
An Enduring Friendship
Over the years, Selena and Taylor have walked countless red carpets together, danced the night away at award shows, and celebrated milestones side by side. They also shared the stage at Madison Square Garden in 2011, when Gomez surprised fans by joining Swift for a duet of Who Says during the Speak Now Tour.
Reflecting on their lasting friendship in a 2014 interview with E!, Taylor said, “When your life changes, and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is different from what other people think your life is. And your life is commented on, and your life is written about and fictionalised and all that. Both of us have stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we’ve gone through.”
“Longevity is something you really can find very precious and rare in friendships. This Person Has Never Ever Judged a Single Decision I’ve Made”
Selena opened up about what Taylor’s friendship means to her during a surprise duet on the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018.
The Wizards of Waverly Place alum told the crowd, “The reason why (Taylor) has been one of my best friends is that this person has never ever judged a single decision I’ve made.”
“She’s always met me where I’ve been. She’s encouraged me when I’ve had nothing to be encouraged about, and I don’t know if I would be as strong as I am if I didn’t have you and your family because you’ve changed my life.”
Wedding Speech and a Song Dedication
Taylor gave a heartfelt speech at Selena’s wedding to music producer Benny Blanco in California last year.
Blanco later revealed on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast that Swift’s song Dorothea is about Gomez. He also claimed that the “Fate of Ophelia” singer wrote an unreleased song inspired by their friendship titled Family.
