Sydney Sweeney was an advocate for some of the boldest scenes on this season of “Euphoria.” Series creator Sam Levinson recently discussed the end of the show and some of the most controversial storylines he tackled this season, including her character’s much-discussed foray as an OnlyFans model.
Levinson was featured on the Popcast podcast, where he discussed his process in writing Sweeney’s storyline. He revealed that Sweeney was an advocate for including the boldest scenes he’d written, preferring to confront the topic directly.
“When I first wrote it…I thought, ‘Well, maybe, we shoot all of this, and we don’t have any nudity,’” he said. “I was talking to her about, ‘Maybe there’s ways to shoot around certain things,’ and she looked at me and she’s like, ‘Are you kidding? I’m playing an OnlyFans model. You’re telling me you’re going to skirt around it?’”
“I was like, ‘Yeah, okay. That’s a fair point.’ And so there’s always a discussion of what works best for the character.”
© @HBOMaxLevinson described Sweeney as “totally fearless,” revealing that she was down to experiment with her performance. “She’s also just wonderfully professional, and shows up just game every day.” he said.
“I adore working with her, because there’s such a flexibility in terms of the performance. I can say, ‘Why don’t we try this scene just a little crazier, with a little more humor.’ Suddenly, this whole other version of the scene can come out just based on her performance.”
Sweeney’s scenes in “Euphoria” have been some of the most discussed elements of the season so far, which concluded this last weekend. Some of the highlights included Sweeney’s wedding to Jacob Elordi’s character Nate, and her work as an OnlyFans model, which had her as the subject of some risque photoshoots.

Earlier this year, Sweeney opened up about her work on “Euphoria,” and how its bold material helped her feel more comfortable and empowered in her body.
“I grew up with boobs. I was wearing a 32DD in sixth grade, and I never felt confident. I never had anything I felt good in, and I just wanted to hide,” she said in an interview with US Weekly. “It wasn’t until [I played] Cassie in Euphoria that I started realizing it’s actually powerful to be confident; our bodies are incredible. We should embrace [them] and feel really good in our skin.”
