Tina Knowles is embracing a season of healing, gratitude, and fresh beginnings. The bestselling author took to Instagram on June 25 to reveal that she brought her memoir, “Matriarch,” along for a vacation in Cannes, France, while sharing exciting news about the newly released paperback edition.
“Took my baby Matriarch to Cannes France for a vacation! 📕 New Paperback out now with new photos and bonus epilogue catching you up on life post Cancer Surgery,” Knowles wrote alongside photos from the picturesque French destination.
The update marks another milestone for the 72-year-old, whose memoir has become a deeply personal account of her life, family, career, and resilience. The paperback edition features an updated photo collection along with a brand-new epilogue that gives readers a closer look at her journey following breast cancer surgery.
Knowles first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in 2025 while promoting “Matriarch.” She shared that doctors discovered stage 1 breast cancer after she delayed a routine mammogram during the COVID-19 pandemic. She later underwent surgery to remove the tumor and has since used her platform to encourage women to stay current with their health screenings.
The original hardcover edition of “Matriarch” debuted in April 2025 and quickly became a No. 1 New York Times bestseller. The memoir explores Knowles’ upbringing in Galveston, Texas, her career as a businesswoman and fashion designer, and her role in helping shape the careers of her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, while offering an intimate look at the strength of generations of women in her family.
According to the book’s official website, the new paperback edition expands on that story with exclusive photographs and an epilogue detailing how Knowles has navigated life after her cancer treatment, offering readers a candid update on her recovery and personal growth.
The post was met with enthusiastic responses from fans, many congratulating Knowles on her continued recovery while celebrating the success of “Matriarch.” The memoir has been widely praised for placing the spotlight on her own remarkable journey beyond being known as the mother of global superstars.
Speaking with PEOPLE, Tina Knowles opened up for the first time in 2025 about the diagnosis that shook her world and how it nearly went undetected. “I forgot that I didn’t go to get my test two years before I thought I had,” she admits. “Because Covid came, they canceled me and said they’d call when testing started again. I just assumed I’d already done it.”
“I struggled with whether I would share that journey [in the book] because I’m very private,” she says. “But I think there’s a lot of lessons in it for other women. You must go get your test.”
