Abelardo de la Espriella emerged as Colombia’s president-elect. With his victory secured, attention has quickly turned to the woman set to become the country’s next First Lady: Ana Lucía Pineda.
De la Espriella won the presidential runoff by less than one percentage point, receiving 49.66% of the vote to Iván Cepeda’s 48.70%. Throughout the closely contested campaign, Pineda emerged as one of its most visible public figures, helping rally support for the Defensores de la Patria movement.

A 17-Year Partnership and Family Life
Pineda and De la Espriella’s story began long before politics entered their lives. The two knew each other as children through their families’ close friendship but lost contact over the years.
