King Frederik X and Queen Mary are looking back on one of the most memorable trips of their reign as they marked Ólavsøka, the Faroe Islands’ national celebration.
The Danish royal household shared a heartfelt message on social media wishing the Faroese people a happy holiday, accompanied by a series of photos from the couple’s visit to the islands in June 2025.
“We know how much the national celebration means. That families and friends gather, and that many travel home to celebrate Ólavsøka,” the palace wrote in Danish and Faroese. “We wish everyone a few wonderful days, wherever you celebrate them.”
The post was signed simply by “The Royal Couple” and noted that the images were taken during their official visit to the Faroe Islands last year.
