Shakira had a special friend join her onstage in Madrid, and things quickly got emotional. The Colombian superstar surprised fans during the third night of her residency at Macondo Park when she welcomed Italian singer Laura Pausini to the stage.
The two longtime friends performed “Antología” together for the first time, giving one of Shakira’s most beloved early songs a very special moment nearly three decades after it was first released.
Before they began, Shakira opened up about the connection she shares with Pausini, telling the crowd that she feels “very connected” to the Italian singer.

Although Pausini is Italian, she has spent much of her career embracing Spanish-language music and has built a major following throughout Spain and Latin America.
Her connection to Shakira’s music became even more personal when she recorded “Antología” for her March 2026 album Yo Canto 2, which pays tribute to iconic songs in Spanish.
“I’m here as a fan, I always have been,” Pausini said during the emotional reunion. The song originally appeared on Shakira’s 1995 album Pies Descalzos, one of the projects that helped establish her as a major voice in Latin music.
© GettyYears later, “Antología” remains closely tied to the singer’s early career and is still one of the songs longtime fans associate with her early career.
For Pausini, getting to sing it with Shakira was also a full-circle moment. “We both started when we were 18, facing many difficult things, but she has shown us how many times we can fall and get back up and start from scratch,” she said.

The collaboration came during Shakira’s Madrid residency, where the singer has been revisiting different chapters of her career while performing for fans in Spain.

I had chills, and thank you for those tears you shed while we were singing. You’ve given me so much love,” Pausini said.
